NCB - A New Destination for Young Banking Talents

The Generation Ready to "Job-Switch"

Minh Anh, 26, is a typical example of a Gen Z talent: intelligent, dynamic, and always eager to develop. Since graduating, she has worked at several reputable banks, but none have kept her there for even two years.

“As a new employee, I am always ready and eager to learn more, participate in new projects, be empowered by my superiors, and take responsibility for assigned tasks. However, sometimes the traditional processes and work methods, the excessive amount of ‘paperwork,’ make young people like me feel unmotivated,” Minh Anh shared.

Minh Anh's story is not unique. A report by Adecco shows that 72% of workers are ready to find new jobs in 2025, and as many as 54% are actively seeking opportunities even without pressure to quit.

NCB is becoming a “new destination” for young banking professionals.

The trend of young people wanting to avoid commitment and readily switching jobs poses a significant challenge for businesses, especially as Gen Y and Gen Z are gradually becoming the key workforce. Ernst & Young estimates that Gen Z will account for approximately 27% of the banking workforce by 2025, and more importantly, this generation, born with smartphones, possesses skills different from previous generations and is considered the “future of the financial industry.”

Meanwhile, a job report by The Sentry indicates that when asked about the most important factor in choosing a workplace, 47% of employees prioritize learning opportunities, followed by “company culture,” and then “income.” According to recruitment firm Navigos, Gen Z today is no longer bound by the concept of “stability.” They are willing to switch jobs to an environment where they can learn, be empowered, have opportunities and career advancement paths, and most importantly, feel free to express their personal opinions with respect and feedback from colleagues and superiors.

According to EY, to meet the diversity and inclusion standards of Gen Z, banks must break down old stereotypes and be prepared to confront systemic barriers.

NCB – The Destination for the New Generation of Employees

Building a dynamic multi-generational work environment that keeps pace with market trends, in the last three years, National Commercial Bank (NCB) has made groundbreaking changes in its human resources policies and strategies, redefining the workplace with a modern digital culture.

With 90% of its workforce belonging to Generation Y and Generation Z, NCB has chosen connectivity and digitalization, creating a work environment that keeps pace with the times and global trends. This helps young people not only learn professional skills but also develop their acumen in adopting new technologies to improve work quality.

NCB received a double award at the HR Asia Awards 2025.

A smart, paperless office model has been implemented. Online meetings on platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom are gradually replacing traditional meetings, helping maintain connectivity in a hybrid work environment. AI applications are deployed in the workplace, optimizing quality and efficiency. Meanwhile, operational processes are also technology-driven, creating a dynamic, efficient, and innovative digital environment.

Besides creating a modern and attractive "playground" for young people, with the support of a leading global human resources consulting firm, NCB has "refreshed" its attractive compensation and benefits policies, ranking among the top in the market, to attract talent and reward employees who are committed to the bank. Human resource development is given special attention with a clear personal development roadmap, focusing on training key personnel and the next generation. NCB aims for 50% of its business unit management force to come from internal resources within the next two years.

"We focus on equipping NCB employees with the ability to adapt, be flexible, and be ready to take on more challenging tasks, with higher opportunities for advancement, meeting the demands of the times," shared Mr. Ta Kieu Hung, General Director of NCB.

The culture of empowerment – a favorite "specialty" of Gen Z – is also present at NCB. Alongside comprehensive and continuous training programs in both professional expertise and skills, in a multi-generational environment, the experience of Gen X, the implementation capabilities of Gen Y, and the creativity of Gen Z blend together to create outstanding results.

With a series of attractive policies and a flexible digital working environment, NCB recently received a double award: “Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2025” and “Tech Empowerment Awards 2025” at the leading HR Asia Awards 2025.

“NCB remains steadfast in its philosophy that people are the bank's most valuable asset and continuously invests in them,” NCB's leadership affirmed. The bank is also known for possessing a large number of highly experienced senior personnel, international experts, and young talents in the finance and banking industry in recent years.
